Discover the great wines from Australia and New Zealand

The wines from Down Under have established an international reputation for producing some of the best value wines in the world. Both countries are known for their cool-climates, and some of the most progressive and environmentally conscious producers. The two countries have also developed a distinct winemaking style and flavor profile all their own.

Tua Tua. Savvy B.

Tua Tua is regarded it as a symbol of balance and harmony, representing the cyclical nature of life and the interconnectedness of all things.

In a small coastal village in New Zealand, there was a legend surrounding a mysterious seashell called the Tua Tua. The Tua Tua was said to possess multiple meanings and interpretations, depending on who discovered it and how it was used. For the local fishermen, the Tua Tua represented good luck and prosperity. They believed that finding a Tua Tua on the shores meant a bountiful catch awaited them at sea. Many would keep a Tua Tua in their boats as a talisman for safe voyages and abundant harvests. Among the children of the village, the Tua Tua held a different significance. They saw it as a magical artifact that could grant wishes. Legend had it that if you whispered your deepest desires into the shell and tossed it into the ocean, the sea would carry your wishes to the realm of the spirits, who would then make them come true. The village elders, who were keepers of ancient wisdom, offered yet another interpretation of the Tua Tua. They regarded it as a symbol of balance and harmony, representing the cyclical nature of life and the interconnectedness of all things. To them, the Tua Tua was a reminder to respect the ocean and live in harmony with nature. As time passed, the legend of the Tua Tua continued to evolve, with each generation adding new layers of meaning to the mysterious seashell. Some saw it as a symbol of hope and possibility. Ultimately, the Tua Tua remained a symbol of the complexities and ambiguities of life, inviting all who encountered it to ponder its multilayered meanings and respect its power.

The Cool Unkel.

As the ‘Unkel’, Rob always allows the wine to do the talking, leading its own life through fermentation and ageing in the winery providing what we believe is the most honest expression of the fruit that he started with.

Unkel (variation of the spelling of Uncle), is about working with Mother Nature in the Vineyard to produce the highest quality fruit that we can obtain from her. Once in the winery, rather than being that hands-on, overbearing parent or father figure, you can think of us more like that cruisy, fun, slightly wild Uncle in your life. As the ‘Unkel’, we always allow the wine to do the talking, leading its own life through fermentation and ageing in the winery providing what we believe is the most honest expression of the fruit that we started with. Ultimately, we just want to make wines to be enjoyed with friends and family. Wines to be shared with a smile...anywhere, anytime and on any occasion.

Luta.

A selection of barrels that tell the story of Nelsons unique Moutere clays and the organic vineyards on which the vines are farmed.

Rob and Kate Burley have been organically farming a picturesque 5.5 Hectare vineyard in Nelson, planted with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris & Riesling since 2019. ‘Luta’ - derived from Lutum, the Latin word for clay - pays reference to the Moutere clays where the grapes are grown. We are so fortunate to farm in such a beautiful area and the resulting wines are something we are extremely humbled to have produced from land that we are deeply connected to.

Meet Justin Jarrett from See Saw Wines.

‘Its all about Balance and Harmony’

See Saw, is known for its elegant, award-winning wines that showcase the mountainous Orange wine region. The wines are certified organic, and sustainability is front and center in the vineyards and right across the business. “Our family philosophy is an old Cherokee saying, which is, ‘You don’t inherit the land from your parents, you inherit it from your children’,” says Justin. “If you look at indigenous cultures around the world, they have had a far greater respect for the Earth. So that is the philosophy of everything we do. We are always looking to the future, so that our children can do the same.” Justin and Pip own three organic-certified vineyards in Orange’s highlands, each at a different elevation.

Das Juice.

A winemaking project from James Audas and Tom Sheer.

Made with maximum good-drinking in mind, all of our wines are sourced from some of the best organic and biodynamic vineyards around South Australia as well as a special wine we make in Beaujolais from the organic vineyards of Fleurie hero and good friend Guillaume Chanudet. Our wines are made with no adjustments, with no fining nor filtration and with a small amount of Sulphur at bottling being the only addition. We choose not to disturb the wines during their ageing, preferring to respect the grapes that the season gave to us each year. Nothing added, nothing taken away.

Decibel Dan.

The man behind the

Pet Nat.

Daniels vision to create wines using classic practices, minimal intervention, and wines with a community based attitude.  These are ideas as old as wine itself and Daniel believes strongly in them.  However he looks to the future as well.  At a time when we use smart practices in the vineyard and the winery that not only inspire but preserve our great planet.  He has had a great deal of help from many other winemakers, growers and friends in Hawkes Bay, Martinborough, and back home in the USA as well.
